We've put this website together for the convenience of Nordic skiers anywhere and everywhere. If you've ever wondered whether the trail conditions were worth the drive to the trailhead, this could help! Please submit trail reports about the grooming, snow quantity and quality, and any other notes you think would be useful to other skiers. Obviously the system will work best if lots of people participate, so submit reports often!
This work is being done in our spare time so changes might not always be super speedy, but the system is functional right now and will be getting better over time.
Things we're hoping to have in the not too distant future include:
- a mobile version and/or apps
- login capability so it will be possible for you to save favorite places
- the option to add photos to your report
- aaaaaaaand.... some other stuff (let us know if you have suggestions)

Why XC Trail Tracker?
We admit it, this website was born out of envy. We were jealous of the Midwest for having SkinnySki where people can go to one website and see trail conditions all around the region. We wanted something similar for the mountain west (or, really, the whole world - why not?). Though we originally figured it would just be Nordic skiers letting other Nordic skiers know how trail conditions were, some groomers and Nordic Centers have also used it as a way to keep their skiers informed. Especially when conditions are iffy, it's an easy "1-stop shop" to see where people are able to ski by looking at the most recent reports in your area.
This website is a labor of love on our part. We've put in the time and paid for the server space, but to make this a useful website WE NEED YOU (and your ski pals) to add trail reports! Please join us. Let's put the CROWD in crowdsourcing!
Happy ski trails.......

Some Q and A
- What do the pin colors mean?
- Green = Report less than 2 days old
- Yellow = Report 2-5 days old
- Red = Report more than 5 days old
- Shadowy gray = No reports in over two years :(
- How can I submit a report?
- Click on the trail name or map icon of the trail system you've skied and then click on Submit New Trail Report.
- Can I update the page without doing a full refresh?
- Yes, just give the map a "nudge".
- Can you improve the site by doing X, Y or Z?
- We would love to improve the site! Please send your ideas to us at xctrailtracker@gmail.com That said, the work on this website is all done in our free time, which is in short supply, so changes may not happen lickety split. But we're keeping a list of changes to work on and hope to keep making this cooler and cooler!
- Why can't I paste anything into the trail report text box?
- Copying and pasting HTML text bypassed some security validation and caused some trouble so until we figure out a better way this option is blocked.
